BIRTH OF A WRITER

HELLO! I'm Laurie and I'm a 50-ish writer and online role-player that lives in Ballston Spa, New York, and divorced after 31 years of marriage. I have two children-- my 31-year old son Philip, who was born profoundly deaf, and a 27-year old hearing daughter named Rachel.

My "kidults" are probably as old as most of the people I write with, so hopefully my age will not be a factor that prevents you from wanting to plot with me. Of course, if my age is a deal breaker for you, the X is in the right upper corner. Click on it, and have a nice day!

If my age doesn't deter you and you're still with me, kudos to you! I see my age as a positive factor that I find very useful when I write for my characters. I tend to draw ideas for plots from my MANY life experiences--the good, the bad and the ugly are fair game when I write about anything.

You won't find any Gary Stu's or Mary Sue's here. What you will find is 3-D characters, up in your face, hard core feels, raw emotions and everything including the kitchen sink. Write with me, you won't regret it. Due to chronic spinal issues, I'm a semi-retired travel nurse.

Also, I'm a cat mom to a Tortie named Laila. She keeps me quite busy! I guess you could consider me an old-school role player. My love for writing has been lifelong, almost 40 years. but I started online writing back in 1995, back when AOL came on a CD and I had dial up.

After I exhausted the first 500 hours, I picked up another free CD, then another in order to feed my new addiction. I started out playing Gorean RPG's, then a friend introduced me to Arts & Entertainment in the members only chat rooms. There, I developed my skills, mostly in the urban/modern supernatural genre.

When AOL phased out most of the viable role play there, I moved on to forum play, and have been playing in this realm for the past 20 years. Writing is my hobby, and I guess you might even say I live vicariously through the characters I create. Some of them help me deal with my deeper, darker self and reveal ways to help me approach events in my real life from a new perspective--rather than an old one.
